Citizen Corps Mission
Statement
The mission of Citizen Corps
is to harness the power of
every individual through
education, training, and
volunteer service to make
communities safer, stronger,
and better prepared to
respond to the threats of
terrorism, crime, public health
issues, and disasters of all
kinds.
What will Citizen Corps Councils do?
Devise community emergency preparation and
response plans
Provide local firefighters & police an extra line of
defense
Educate children what to do if there is an
Emergency
Meet community needs in emergency
preparedness in many diverse way….and?
GOALS FOR CITIZEN CORPS COUNCILS:
Personal Responsibility: looking out for family and neighbors; have
a emergency plan for home, school and work.
Training: disaster awareness and emergency preparedness;
importance of disaster preparedness plans and kits in homes,
business, and vehicles.
Volunteer Service: Citizen Corps provides the infrastructure for
getting citizens involved in supporting the first responders in their
community.

residents together to focus on disaster preparedness and training.
