Investing in Our Future
bloch.umkc.edu
• In September 2011, the Bloch School
received a $32 million gift, the largest
outright in UMKC history, from its
namesake, Henry W. Bloch.
• The gift will fund the construction of
a state-of-the-art building to house
the school’s graduate, executive and
entrepreneurship programs.
• “I chose to make this significant gift
because now is the right time,” Bloch
said. “I stand behind the Chancellor
and Dean Tan’s purposeful vision for
the Bloch School and have already
seen them execute successful
strategic initiatives that will propel
the school toward national and
international renown.”
Ranked Top in the World
• In fall 2011, an article in the Journal of
Product Innovation Management
produced a ranking list entitled
“Perspective: Ranking of the World’s
Top Innovation Management Scholars
and Universities.” This is the first time
the journal has ranked universities, as
opposed to just the scholars
themselves, for their research
productivity in this area.
• Among the top 10 universities ranked
were MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Michigan
State, Texas A&M, University of
Pennsylvania and more.
• UMKC exceeded them all as the No. 1
innovation management university
thanks to the research produced by
the Bloch School’s Department of
Global Entrepreneurship and
Innovation.
