EMA 408 4 x FBAS, SD/HD-SDI, ASI MPEG-2 TS  ASI(TS) & IP
The EMA 408 is ein device of the BLANKOM-Encoderseries. It is designed for the generation and
conversion of SD- und HD-Videosignals and generates and/or complements an existing
Multiplex. The assembly guaranties first-class Outputsignals with excellent technical values.
The EMA 408 allows the Encoding of four A/V-, SDI- or HD-SDI-Signals and/or the Transcoding of
up to four MPEG-2 Signals into H.264 in an ASI-Transportstream.

SAT-IF Router
SMA 001 SAT-IF  SAT-IF
The SAT-IF Router SMA 001 is a controllable Signalswitch for the SAT-IF-Band.
The assemly is a self-sufficiently working unit in a 19“-Housing. The SMA 001 disposes of
16 Signalinputs and 16 Signaloutputs.
Via WEB-Interface each Inputsignal can be routed to any Output. By that this device can be
optimally used as a remoted SAT-IF-Switch for the individual Signalfeed of End-Devices, such as
Redundancy-Assemblies .

8fach SAT-TV Transmodulator
A-QAMOS 4CI DVB-S/-S2(8x QPSK/8PSK) • 4x CI  DVB-C
The module A-QAMOS-4CI transcodes digital Satellite-Signals into QAM-Signals for the
Broadcast into Cable-Networks. Here up to 8 QAM-Channels can be generated out of the SAT-ZFSignals which are fed-in via two inputs.
The module allows decryption and optional following encryption of DVB-Transportstreams.
Therefor 4-CI-Slots are integrated which can be freely cascaded for each application. The feed-in
of the keys for encryption goes via an own Ethernet-Interface.

8fach IP-QAM Modulator
A-QAMOS IP IP/SFP/ASI  DVB-C (8x QAM)
The A-QAMOS-IP modulates IP- and/or ASI-TS into QAM-Signals for the broadcasting in
Cable-networks. Therefore 8 QAM-Channels can be generated out of the sidefedTransportstreams .
Even large Transportstreams can be split to different QAM-Channels by the integrated ProgramFilter.
This professional device is characterized by a simple and innovative concept of handling.

Why Pro-MPEG FEC?
• 1 IP packet carries 7 MPEG TS packets
– One error is multiplicated by 7
• UDP/RTP doesn‘t use ACK.
– Lost packet means lost lost packet
• TV! Low latency is important
– Error correction with low latency is needed
• Standardized algorithm
– No proprietary system, full downward compatible
Type of packet lost
• Single packet lost
– Every now and than
– Multiple causes e.g. bit error
– Simple to recover
• Multiple packet lost „bursts loses“
– Caused by buffer errors or re-route issues
e.g. IP transport through non privat network
– Difficult to recover

2D FEC Summary
• Pro-MPEG FEC causes more IP traffic
– FEC is transmitted two UDP port higher
– FEC‘ is transmitted four UDP port higher
• Pro-MPEG FEC causes latency
– Latency >2,5ms
• Pro-MPEG FEC protects effective MPEG over IP
transmission
• Pro MPEG FEC is fully downward compatible
– IP receiver w/o FEC can still be used
