Consolidation of Schools Council requested that school sites be identified and/or consolidated as early as possible for the following reasons: • Saves the time, effort, financial resources that would go into building a 7-8 program at a site that is consolidated •Allows neighboring sites to plan for additional students as decisions are being made about the location of 7-8 programs •Reduces the impact of the inevitable grief associated with consolidation so staff can focus on student learning 27

Site Consolidation Recommendations-

Aero Haven Elementary campus consolidates before 2010-2011

•Neighboring school leadership change prompted integrated district level suggestion to meet Highlands and Foothill community needs • Program would move to Madison Elementary and invite students there into blended new school program •Majority of students would be attending school closer to home •Defines boundaries and potentially lowers transportation costs •Improves access to the Bilingual Program as Aero Haven site was limited by size and infrastructure •Aero Haven Elementary students may also attend Oakdale or Joyce or any other district school they choose when space is available •Madison students may choose to participate in new program or attend any other district school they choose when space is available 28
