Science Park Movement
in Turkey
• Started in 1980’s with METU
• In 1991 SMIDO-METU Incubation Center has
been established
• In 1996 Techno-Parks Bylaw was enacted
• In 1998 METUTECH and TUBITAK-MAM
approved as the first techno-parks of Turkey
• In 2001 Technology Development Zones Law
was enacted

• Enacted in 2001
• Support and incentives
– Income tax exemptions for R&D staff
– Corparate tax exemptions for companies
– Incentives for the academic personnel working for
science park companies
