Focus for the 2012-2013
Academic Year
• Analysis of Unit-wide Data
• NCATE Preparation
• Analysis of Data of the Fairness of
Assessment System
• Discussion of License Specific
Questions
Analysis of Unit-wide Data
• There had been discussion last
year about the possibility of raising
the benchmark above 90%, perhaps
92%. However, we determined that
if we continue to look at lowest
mean there is no need to raise the
benchmark
Analysis of Unit Wide Data
• Undergraduate Level
– Strengths – Areas not outlined in the
challenges
– Challenges – Technology, IEPs, Advising,
Classroom and Behavior Management,
American and Civic Culture
• Graduate Level
– Strengths – Areas not outlined in the
challenges
– Challenges – Technology, IEPs
NCATE Preparation
• Preparing the Unit
– Group work on each standard
• Understand the comprehensive
nature of the assessment system,
particularly in the keeping of data
from off campus programs
Analysis of Data of the Fairness
of Assessment System
• Need to go back to inter-rater
reliability and calibration activities
• Discussion to begin modular
training on Blackboard
• We need exemplar key
assessments
• Need consistency with uploading
data in TK20
Future Work
Goals for 2013-2014
• Better compliance with Tk20
• Train adjuncts on Tk20
• Get Extended Campus Partners using
Tk20
• Include adjunct and extended campus in
examination of grad data
• Work on calibration of all groups
including mentor teachers
• Constituents examine at data
• Look at TPA to view potential impact on
our programs
Future Work
Tasks for 2013-2014
• Plan data meetings for
constituents
• Finish the calibration modules on
Bb with Mike Leamy. Set this up in
2013-14 for implementation in
2014-15
• Review IR and do what we said
we would do. Plan those tasks.

Loss of Potential Partnership
• Closesure of Atlantic Union
College
• We have come up with alternative
possibilities
Measuring Diversity
• We have triangulated the data
regarding diversity provided by
multiple measures.
• They are…
– Candidate Dispositions
– Lesson Plan Scoring Sheet
– Observation Report
– Practicum Evaluation Report
– Teacher Work Sample
What We Found
• Based on the identified measures,
improvement in the area has been seen.
• Student Exit Surveys, however, indicate
both graduate and undergraduate
candidates express concern regarding the
use of IEP’s to plan strategies for
integrating students with disabilities into
the classroom.
• The committee will work to close the
perception disparity between faculty and
candidates in this area.
Actions to be Taken
• Develop a strategy to bring
consistency to the collection of pre
and post data from diversity
courses and activities.
• In our Strategic Plan and Academic
Plan, there are multiple strategies
for creating a “Culture of Diversity.”
Academic Plan
• Investigate demographics of college-ready
students to set diversity goals for student
diversity by September 2012, and, based on the
findings, implement for the 2014 AY. (Dean of
Enrollment)
• Conduct a cultural climate survey no later than
May 2013. (VPAA)
• Implement strategies to increase faculty diversity
by Fall 2014. (VPAA and HR)
• Investigate ESL needs in the community and
develop a proposal based on identified needs by
October 2013. (VPAA and Dean of Education)
• Identify academic program initiatives that would
support outreach to diverse populations in the
community by May 2014. (Chairs)
Strategic Plan
• Implement a plan to engage the campus
in achieving a culture of diversity
• Implement a plan to recruit and retain
under-served minority populations
• Increase student, faculty, and staff
diversity
• Increase retention of at-risk populations
• Offer programming indicative of a
diverse campus
• Increase student and faculty international
exchange
• Expand off-campus outreach to diverse
populations in the community
Increase Retention of
At-risk Students
• MTEL preparation strategies for
ALL our teacher candidates
• Communications and Literacy is
currently addressed by the Tudor
Center

AFI for Standard 4: Tracking Diversity
Placements in Pre-practicum and

survey is filled out—mandatory—how do
we insure that?
• Jason will be building a data base for
practicum placements based on that
information
• Jason and Grad Chairs will work with
Extended Campus to develop a process
(Brine, MEC, and MAVA) for tracking prepracticum and practicum placements
