Dr. B.M.Lall Nigam (b.1935), a senior professor in the Faculty of Commerce
& Business Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, has been the
Head of the Department between 1979-82. He obtained his D.Litt. and
Ph.D.degrees from the University of Lucknow in 1964 and 1965 respectively.
During March-May, 1998, he was a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of
Management, Calicut. Earlier during 1993-94, he was a visiting professor,
Department of Accounting, Rutgers University, USA. Further, during 198284, he was a senior teaching fellow in the School of Management, National
University of Singapore, and during 1974-76 an assistant professor of
Accounting in the University of Sydney. He is a senior associate member of
the Australian Society of Accounts, and an alumnus of the Harvard Business
School where he attended the International Teachers Program in 1972.
Dr.Nigam’s areas of interest have all along been Accounting and Finance,
and it is in these that he has contributed more than 25 papers published
overseas and in India. His books include Advanced Cost Accounting, Cost
Analysis & Control, Theory & Techniques of Cost Accounting, Practical
Costing, Financial Analysis Techniques for Banking Decisions, Banking &
Economic Growth, and Banking Law & Practice.
