Why use an LOR?
Interconnected Goals
 TELL/SHOW: To provide theoretical content on a
specific topic typically by reading text, watching an
animation, or listening to narration. May also
include references to examples.
 PRACTICE: To provide an opportunity for students
to apply the theoretical content. Learners do
something with what they are learning—practice a
procedure, play a game, answer questions.
 EVALUATE: To provide an opportunity to reinforce
and/or assess learning.

So – there is a haystack and there is a needle.
Before putting the needle into the haystack, where it will be lost forever, we need to
add TAGS (or KEYWORDS) – in this case, ‘needle’, ‘pointy’ and ‘sharp’.
