Geothermal
General
1. How does a geothermal system work?
– In the winter earth loop absorbs stored heat from the ground
which is compressed to a higher temperature and distributes it
throughout the building
– In the summer, the system reverses, pulling heat from the
building, depositing it in the cooler earth.
2. What makes a geothermal system different from
conventional systems?
– Unlike conventional systems, geothermal systems do not burn
fossil fuel to generate heat--they simply transfer heat to and
from the earth.
3. How efficient is a geothermal system?
– Geothermal systems provide three to four units of energy for
every one unit used to power the system.

Heating Water
 The
Geothermal heat pumps can be
used to heat the water for your
home. This can be accomplished in
two different ways:
– through integrated full-time water
preheating
– or through "desuperheating" water
heating.


Integrated water heating (on demand)
uses the Geothermal system to heat
water at any time of the year. Its first
cost is higher, but it provides operating
savings all year.
It provides quicker recovery from a cold
water tank than does an electric
resistance water heater.

Water Heating

Desuperheating Water Heating
Desuperheating water heating reclaims heat
from the A/C cycle to heat water instead of
pumping it into the ground. Its first cost is lower.
Savings are realized in the cooling season by
transferring waste heat to your hot water storage
tank. Even in the heating mode the
desuperheater can provides pre-heating to the
water heater. (You can scavenge heat from the
heating cycle)
Radiant Floor heating

Radiant Floor Advantages
Comfort- The floor becomes the radiator, no
cold spots
Healthier- less airborne dust & mold spores
Less Drafts- Does not create drafts caused by
other types of heat
Fuel Efficient- Uses less fuel than any other
distribution system
Flexibility- Can be installed in new and existing
homes
Radiant Heat (cont)



Radiant heat is actually a low frequency radio
wave that flows from the object with the highest
temperature and is absorbed by any object that
has a lower temperature.
it does not heat the air between the two objects
it's ability to heat only those objects that need
heat.
Even heat.
heat from the sun comes to the earth in the form
of radiant energy and heats the objects on earth.

If you can do everything with one utility you
only have the one monthly charge.
The gas delivery & monthly charge is
around $60
