THE ENGINEERING DUAL DEGREE
PROGRAM (EDDP)
• 150: total students enrolled over the five year period
• 45: number of first-year students typically enrolled each year
• 150: EDDP graduates to date

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE EDDP
• The EDDP is a 5-year program with an integrated curriculum (Butler
Major and Engineering Major)
• Students do not transfer mid-program, it is NOT a 3-2 program
• Students are enrolled at both universities for the duration of the program
• Most engineering courses are taught at Butler for the first three years of the
program with courses taken at both campuses (a five-mile commute) during
the last two years
• Results in TWO degrees: one from Butler University and one from
Purdue University
• It is okay to be undecided on a major at the start of the program (for
~2 to 3 semesters)

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE EDDP
• Internships are an important part of the educational experience,
and at least one internship is required
• EDDP provides a diverse educational experiences leading to a
wide range of careers opportunities with a highly successful
placement rate for graduates
• Students have access to three career centers
• 1. Butler, 2. IUPUI, & 3. Purdue @ West Lafayette
• Students in the program have multiple advisors: an EDDP advisor, a
Butler Major advisor, and an IUPUI Engineering advisor
• Individual advising occurs at least once per semester

• The program has an active, student run Engineering Dual Degree Club
(EDDC)
• EDDP Students are active on campus, as well as in the community:
• Organizations
• Intramurals
• Intercollegiate Athletics

• Community Service
• On- and off-campus jobs
• Study Abroad

• One internship is required before graduation
• Typically completed during the summer after 3rd or 4th year
• Most are paid experiences ($16/hr average)
• Career Planning class is a required course
• Career Services are available at both Butler University and Purdue Universities
