Frida Kahlo

Read the next biographies about famous persons around the history
and pay attention to the words in blue.
» Frida Kahlo was born on july 6th. 1907 in Coyoacan and she died
on july 13th. 1954. she was a Mexican painter, Perhaps best
known for her self-portraits, Kahlo's work is remembered for its
"pain and passion", and its intense, vibrant colors. Her work has
been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and
indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising
depiction of the female experience and form. Her work has also
been described as "surrealist", and in 1938 one surrealist
described Kahlo herself as a "ribbon around a bomb".

» Kahlo had a stormy but passionate marriage with the prominent
Mexican artist Diego Rivera. She suffered lifelong health
problems, many of which stemmed from a traffic accident in her
teenage years. These issues are reflected in her works, more than
half of which are self-portraits of one sort or another. Kahlo
suggested, "I paint myself because I am so often alone and
because I am the subject I know best."

He is most famous for his short stories. They are full of
mystery and the macabre. Many people say he wrote the
first detective story.

» When he was two, his mother died, and he went to live
with John and Fanny Allan. He later wrote that he didn’t feel
part of the family. They lived in England from 1815 to 1820
and Edgar went to school. Then the Allans returned to the
United States. Edgar went to college in Virginia. He was a
good student but he began gambling and lost a lot of money.
Jhon Allan was furious and refused to pay Edgar’s debts, so
after only one year he had to leave. When Edgar returned
home, he discovered that his sweetheart, Elmira, was
engaged to another man.
