The ROWBERRY ONS yDNA Project
ROWBERRY ONS
Started family history research in late 1976
Direct line in Bristol back to my 3 x great-grandfather George
RUBERY
Family story said that he came from Birmingham and was
related to the RUBERYs who had founded the engineering firm
Rubery, Owen & Co
Despite extensive searching no link found – but a large family
tree built up for them

His death certificate showed he was a Chelsea Pensioner
His Army records gave his date and place of birth – 1773 in
Hereford
He was baptised there in 1773 as a ROWBERRY

Project website set up on the FTDNA website – note and link on
home page of the RONS website
RONS Family Gathering in April 2008 - notification of the
Project was sent with invitations to attend
First test was taken by my first cousin Peter RUBERY (free kit)
11 tests so far, all by volunteers – 8 part paid, 2 paid kits
Donations to Project General Fund very helpful
