Purpose In this session Part 1:  Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the new Domain 1 FfT Descriptors of Practice Dual Entry Form for Components 1c and 1e.

Domain 1 and Domain 4 NO MORE CUTTING AND PASTING  Domains 1 and 4 of the FfT Descriptors of Practice (DOP) will be dual entry forms and will be completed directly by the teacher first.

 Principals/Assistant Principals should provide additional evidence, if warranted. No more

cutting and pasting by teachers or administrators!

Domain 1: Lesson Planning Return to the DTA and 5E’s Lesson Planning Forms  PGCPS has recently updated the PGCPS Directed Teaching Activity (DTA) and 5 E’s lesson planning forms to align with the Danielson Framework, the Common Core, and IFL  The return of these two effective tools

replaces any and all former lesson planning

tools.

5E’s Lesson Planning Template Used for the following content areas: Math, Science, Health, Technology Education

 Read through the lesson plan provided by the teacher 24 hours prior to the observation  Make note or highlight where evidence for Domain 1 elements are located within the lesson plan  Rate the evidence using the

 You do NOT have to cut and paste evidence into a Descriptor of Practice document  Teachers do not have to complete additional organizers for Domain 1  If you are unclear, or evidence of an element is not provided, have a discussion during the pre-conference.

 You may add evidence from the discussion if warranted. Require a REVISED lesson plan if changes need to be made.

Purpose In this session Part 2:  Participants will:  Review the procedure for completing Domains 2 and 3 FfT Descriptors of Practice observation form.  Gain a deeper understanding of the new Domain 4 FfT Descriptors of Practice Dual Entry Form.

NEW

Domain 4 Components 4a and 4c Dual Process Form  Teacher inputs evidence directly into the Descriptor of Practice, Elements Level form for Components 4a and 4c within 24 hours after the observed lesson.

 Observer reviews and rates the evidence provided by the teacher.

How do I assess Components 4a and 4c?

 Read through the completed DOP provided by the teacher.

 Rate the evidence using the

Dual Entry FORM Descriptors of Practice

provided by the teacher.

 Be sure to advise the teacher to bring the artifacts sited in Component 4c to the post conference.

Teacher Evaluation Process  Observer provides teacher with a completed DRAFT DOP complete with ratings for all of the 8 Essential Components.

 Post Conference is scheduled within 5 days after teacher receives the DRAFT DOP.

 If the observer is unclear, or evidence of an element is not provided, have a discussion with the teacher during the post-conference.

 The observer may add evidence and/or change the ratings based on the discussion if warranted.  Observer provides teacher with a FINAL copy of the completed DOP for signature within 5 days after the post conference.
