• The 24’ ladder is on
the ground with the fly
section down
• The recruits will
prepare for a low
shoulder carry

2 Person 24’- Carry
• The tip person will
face the tip of the
ladder with the inside
knee on the ground
• approximately one
rung from the tip of
the ladder
2 Person 24’- Carry
• The butt person will
face the tip of the
ladder with the inside
knee on the ground
• approximately one
rung from the butt of
the ladder
2 Person 24’- Carry
The butt person gives the
command to prepare for
a low shoulder carry
• Using the rung of the
ladder the recruits bring
the ladder upright on the
beam
• If carrying a tool it should
be placed on the upper
beam and steadied with a
hand until the ladder is on
the shoulder
2 Person 24’- Carry
• The butt person gives the
order for a low shoulder
carry
• Both recruits raise the
ladder and pivot into the
ladder resting the top
beam on his/her shoulder
• If carrying a tool it should
be steadied with a hand
at all times

• The butt person gives
the command to
move forward to the
desired location
• The butt person must
protect the butt of the
ladder while
advancing

• The recruits must look
over head to be sure
that the area is clear
• The butt person must
sound out that the
over head is clear
