Election of Officers in May MARCH 30, 2015 - MINUTES • Call To Order - Dr. Troyer called the meeting to order at 9:00am at BAWDB office in Green Bay. • Roll Call - Roll call confirmed a quorum present. Some members participated by conference line. • Approval of Minutes - Minutes of the October 9, 2014, Executive Committee meeting were approved unanimously with a motion from Ms. Christiansen, and a second from Mr. Perlman. 5. “Future Work Skills” • Release of Request for Proposals - Regional one-Stop Operators – Due to new WIOA requirements, Job Center One-Stop Operators (OSO) must be procured with a competitive bid process versus the sole source process to a consortium of partner agencies that was allowed under WIA. The same requirement is required for Corrections contracting relative to the Windows to Work and Steps to Success contracts. A motion to release RFPs for One-Stop Operators, Windows to Work, and Steps to Success for the July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016 program year (PY 2015) was unanimously approved with a motion from Mr. Perlman, and a second from Mr. Harkness. 7. Program Updates • Federal State Updates – None • Other Issues As Allowed By Law – Mr. Golembeski updated the committee on the Collabor8 business services conference being held in Madison April 2-3, anticipated job center tours for new state legislators, and a presentation coming on April 9th for the AgriFuture conference in Madison. • Adjournment – The meeting was adjourned at 9:06 a.m. on a motion from Mr. Harness and seconded by Mr. Marcelle. Golembeski Regional Career Pathways Plan Discussion Dr. Michael Troyer As a result of the Board’s work in January and February, we have eight ranked ideas for closing the skills and interest gap between our 134,000 graduates over the next 15 years and the need of the business and non-profit sectors for employees. Adjournment Industry Sectors Transportation & CDL Initiatives Grailing Jones, Schneider As one of the Bay Area’s five primary high-demand occupation sector strategies, we want to showcase and emphasize the career potential and tangible value in the Transportation/Logistics industry in an effort to attract, encourage, and support the right applicants for the profession. Industry Sectors Transportation & CDL Initiatives Grailing Jones, Schneider How does the Bay Area team accomplish that goal? 1. Ensure our Job Center staff are knowledgeable in the industry 2. Accurately promote, market, assess, and train suitable candidates 3. Work closely with area transportation sector employers to better connect skilled workers to job openings AND provide intensive case management, supportive services, and training funding to eligible participants 4. Continue marketing employment opportunities with workforce development staff; 2.
