Medical Self-Certification
• Applicable to all CDL holders (school bus
drivers, coaches, principals, etc.)
• Must certify by January 30, 2014
• Can change status at any time
• As of November 2012:
• 850,000 Texas CDL holders
• 197,707 CDL drivers have certified (+23%)

• Application deadline is May 31, 2013
• Award Guidelines:
1. Gross Taxable Family Income equal to or less than $75,000 for
each of the past five years
2. Parent/Guardian be active employee in public school transportation
during the past five years.
3. The student applicant above has at least a 3.0 (B) scholastic average, will
graduate from a public high school, and will attend a postsecondary
educational institution in the fall of 2013.
