Law 12 Misconduct – Cautions and Send-Offs 1 Misconduct definition What is Misconduct? 2 Misconduct definition Misconduct \ verb 1: behave in an improper manner \ noun 2: deliberate violation of a law or standard of conduct Misconduct can occur anytime, anywhere, and be against anyone • “Anywhere” includes team areas, stands, and parking lots • “Anyone” includes an opponent, teammate, referee, spectator, or any other person 3 2 Types of Misconduct Caution Send-off Yellow Card Strong Warning Red Card Disqualification 4 Purpose for Issuing Misconduct • Game Control – send a message • Punishment • Mandatory Cards are shown to players and substitutes ONLY 5 Types of Misconduct • Does not require a foul to have been committed • If DFK foul was committed - foul was Reckl ess or Excessive – Restart??? Reckless • Stoppage without a DFK foul - must restart with a IFK • If play is not stopped - the card must be issued at the next stoppage or not at all 6 7 CAUTIONABLE OFFENSES A player is cautioned and shown the yellow card if he/she commits any of the following seven offenses: 1.
