The Perfect Tense is made up of 2 parts Most verbs take the conjugated form of ‘haben’ (to have) + Past Participle (the bit at the end) Here is an example for the verb ‘essen’ (to eat) ich du Sie er/sie wir ihr sie habe hast haben hat haben habt haben gestern Wir haben gestern (yesterday) Fleisch Pizza gegessen Suppe Pizza (We ate pizza yesterday) gegessen Have you noticed…..? • The Past Participle for the verb ‘essen’ (to eat) starts with • ‘ge’ and ends in ‘en’. • Note: an extra ‘g’ is added to make it sound better ‘gegessen’ Here is an example for the verb ‘trinken’ (to drink) ich du Sie er/sie wir ihr sie habe hast haben hat haben habt haben Milch gestern Wasser getrunken (yesterday) Cola Er hat gestern Cola (He drank coke yesterday) getrunken Have you noticed…..? The Past Participle for the verb ‘trinken’ (to drink) also starts with ‘ge’ and ends in ‘en’.
