POWERSCHOOL PARENT PORTAL
INTRODUCTION

PowerSchool Parent Portal gives parents access to realtime information including attendance, grades, detailed
assignment descriptions, school bulletins, lunch account
balance, and even personal messages from the teacher.

Everyone stays connected and parents are able to
participate more fully in their student’s progress.

SINGLE SIGN ON ACCOUNT

Parents/guardians can access multiple students with one
login. This requires that every parent/guardian create one account in
the Parent Portal which is called the Parent Portal Single Sign On
Account. Once you have completed creating your account you may
log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal. You only have to create your
account once.

If you have not created an account or you are brand new to our
school district in order to create an account you must have the
Access ID and Password for each student enrolled in school.

How to Create a Parent/Guardian Account:

Use this procedure to create a new parent/guardian account. In order to create an account, you must have
the Access ID and Password for each student enrolled in school. You will then associate each child to your
parent/guardian account using the Access ID and Password. The Access ID and Password are assigned by the
school district. If you do not have this information or have questions, contact the PowerSchool Administrator.
 Open your Web browser to the PowerSchool Parent Portal URL which is
http://powerschool.bpd3.org/public or you may visit our website at www.bpd3.org and click on Parent
Resources, then click on PowerSchool, lastly click on Parent Portal Log-on Screen. The Log In page
appears.

Click Create an Account. The Create Parent/Guardian Account page appears.

Use the following table to enter information in the Create Parent/Guardian Account section:

First Name
Enter your first name.
Last Name
Enter your last name.
Email
Enter your email address. The email address you enter is used to send you select
information, as well as account recovery notices and account changes
confirmations. For more information, see Email Notifications in the PowerSchool
Parent Portal User Guide which can be accessed on our website at www.bpd3.org
underneath the PowerSchool heading on the Parent Resources page.
Desired User Name
Enter the user name you would like to use when logging into the PowerSchool
Parent Portal. The user name must be unique. If you enter a user name that is
already in use, you will be prompted to select or enter another user name.
Note: The Parent Portal log in Username and Password are case sensitive. For
example, if you create your username and password in ALL CAPS/UPPERCASE when
you log in you will always have to enter them in ALL CAPS.
Password
Enter the password you would like to use when logging into the PowerSchool Parent
Portal. The password must be unique and a minimum of 6 characters.
Re-enter Password
Re-enter the password you would like to use when logging into the PowerSchool
Parent Portal. The password you enter must match the password entered in the
Password field.

Use the following table to enter information in Link Students to Account section:

Student Name
Enter the first and last name of the student you want to add to your account.
Note: Regardless of the name you enter, the system will populate the name
based on the access ID and password for the student.
Access ID
Enter the unique access ID provided to you for the student.
Note: If you do not have this information, contact the PowerSchool
Administrator.
Access Password
Enter the unique access password provided to you for the student.
Note: If you do not have this information, contact the PowerSchool
Administrator.

Relationship
Indicate how you are related to the student by choosing the appropriate
association from the pop-up menu.

GETTING STARTED
 To
get started, you must log into the PowerSchool
Parent Portal.

Go to the Beach Park School District Website at
www.bpd3.org.
Click on Parent Resources
 Click on PowerSchool
 Click on Parent Portal Logon Screen

OR

Type in this URL in your address bar:
http://powerschool.bpd3.org/public

SIGN IN SCREEN

Enter your username in the first field.

Enter your password in the second field.
Note: The characters appear as asterisks (*) to ensure greater security when you
log in.

Click Submit. The PowerSchool Parent Portal start page appears.

When you log in the start page appears which contains the Navigation Menu, Help,
Sign Out and the Notifications and Printer Icons.

NOTE: From any screen in the parent portal if you want to return to the start page just click on the word
PowerSchool in the upper left hand corner. It appears on every screen.

START PAGE
The Navigation Menu serves as the central point from
which to navigate the pages of the PowerSchool Parent
Portal.
 Click Help to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal
online help. Assistance is just a click away!
 Click Sign Out to quit the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
 Clicking on the Notifications Icon displays your last log
in date and time.
 Click the Printer Icon to print the current screen.


START PAGE – NAVIGATION BAR

The Navigation Bar appears at the top of the start page and is common to every page in
the application. The navigation toolbar includes the first names of the students associated
to your parent account and appear in alphabetical order. Click the name of the student for
whom you want to view information. The page refreshes and displays information for the
selected student.

GRADES AND ATTENDANCE
From the main menu click on the Grades and Attendance tab.
 View grades and attendance for the student for the current
term.


On the Grades and Attendance screen you will see the student’s overall
current grade for each period/subject.
To view grade details, click a grade in the term column. The Class Score
Detail page appears.
NOTE: Any text in blue in PowerSchool is a link to another screen. Click on a blue
word or phrase and you will open up another screen.

CLASS SCORE DETAIL SCREEN

From the Class Score Detail page assignments are listed. A caret (^) indicates score is
exempt from final grade. An asterisk (*) indicates an assignment is not included in the final
grade. The number one (1) indicates this final grade may include assignments that are not
yet published by the teacher. It may also be a result of special weighting used by the teacher.
Click the special weighting link for more information.

ATTENDANCE

On the Grades and Attendance screen click on a number in the Absence or
Tardies column to view the absences or tardies for the selected class during this
term. The Dates of Attendance page will appear.

The Dates of Attendance page displays all absences
or tardies for a specific class.

To view the absences or tardies for ALL classes during the current term, click the YTD
number in the Attendance Totals row. The Dates of Absence or Dates of Tardies
page will appear.

The Dates of Absence or Dates of Tardies page displays all absences
or tardies.


From the start page click on Grades History to bring up
the Grades History screen.

The Grades History page displays trimester grades.

Click a grade in the % column; the Class Score Detail Page
will appear.

The Class Score Detail page lists the assignments associated with the current final grade for the
period/subject.
A caret (^) indicates score is exempt from the final grade. An asterisk (*) indicates an assignment

assignments that are not yet published by the teacher. It may also be a result of special weighting

ATTENDANCE HISTORY
From the start page click on Attendance History from
the menu at the left to view the student’s attendance record
for the current term.
 There are several ways to view attendance this method is in
addition to the methods outlined earlier.


TEST RESULTS
From the start page click on Test Results from the menu at
the left to view the student’s test results.
 Scores are posted for the ISAT/IAA, Access, Explore, and
more.


EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS

Setting up email notifications in the parent portal allows parents/guardians to receive notices from the
school via email regarding student’s grades, attendance, assignments, school bulletins, and balance alerts.

Enter your email address using commas to separate multiple email addresses (do not use any spaces), for
example: [email protected],[email protected]

Specify what email notices you would like to receive and how often.

Click submit to save your changes.

TEACHER COMMENTS

Click on the Teacher Comments icon to view any comments the teacher(s) may have entered regarding
such things as student’s achievement and/or behavior.

You may click on the teacher’s name (in blue) to send them an email.
NOTE: If you do not see any comments (information) the teacher has not entered any for the student.
You may email the teacher if you do not see any information.

SCHOOL BULLETINS

Use the School Bulletins page to read any bulletins the
school has posted. This is an excellent way to stay
informed.

BALANCE SCREEN

Click on the Balance icon to view the student’s current lunch
balance and current fee balance.
This is an excellent resource to use to ensure your child
has funds in their lunch account at all times.

Click on School Information from the menu at the
left to view the school’s address, phone number and fax
number.

Click on Account Preferences from the menu at the
left to change your password, email address, etc.


When you are finished working in the parent portal, sign out by clicking
the sign out button in the upper right hand corner.
