Gradebook Parent Portal
At Ray School, beginning with the second quarter of the 2009-2010 school
year, parents will have access to a web-based tool that gives them the
opportunity to play a more active role in their students’ academic lives.
The new CPS IMPACT Parent Portal provides the following features:
Parents can use the portal to view grades and attendance online.
Parents can view course syllabi, assignments, class descriptions,
and several kinds of notes and comments from teachers. The
teacher’s blog is another source of updated information happening in
class.
Parents can receive alerts regarding their child’s grades and
attendance.
Parents can access all of their child’s profiles (regardless of school)
with a single account.
You can access Parent Portal from any
computer that connects to the internet.
You can even set up alerts that notify
you by email or text message when your
child is absent, or grades go up or down.
Parents will be responsible for establishing an account.
Once your account has been established,
you will be asked to provide:
your student’s CPS student
identification number
(which can be found on the
student report card)
PIN number to link to
your student’s record.
In order to maintain the highest level of security of student
information, the custodial parent (the person who enrolled
the child at Ray) must come in person to school and show
identification to receive the PIN number.
♦ Parents will be able to receive their PIN number at Report Card
Pickup on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.
♦After Report Card Pickup, parents must come to the school
office to receive the PIN number during regular school hours.
♦The school will NOT be able to provide any student information
over the telephone.
♦CPS will only distribute the PIN number to one person: the
custodial parent.
Please remember that the grades that you
see posted on the Web site might not include
all assignments or tests that have been
completed by your child.
As teachers complete the grading of
assignments and tests in their online
gradebook, it updates information displayed
on the portal.
♦This new tool does NOT eliminate
the need for parents and teachers
to communicate directly with each
other via email, telephone, or personal
conference. This includes reporting
student absences to the main office.
♦Please contact your child’s
teachers if you have questions
regarding their grades.
GRADING SCALE:
Beginning this year, Ray School has adopted a common grading
scale for all classes grades 1-6.
A = 90-100%
B
= 80-89%
C
= 70-79%
D
=

This, along with other criteria, will be given to you at the
classroom session tonight.
