Graduated from Rhode Island College
Spent 5 years in the business world before
becoming a teacher
Began teaching in 2002 in Dekalb County
as a fifth grade teacher
Graduated from Lesley University- Masters
Married with twins- Charlie & Evie
Fun fact- 7 brothers and sisters
Huge Boston Red Sox fan and N.E. Patriots’
fan

Students must pass both reading
and math for promotion to 6th grade.

Rewards for Good Academic and
Social Behavior
Students will receive a raffle ticket.
There will be a drawing each
Friday. Winners will receive
different prizes, gift certificates, and
other rewards. All rewards will be
decided by the class throughout the
year.
Homework
Expectations
Help your child with his/her homework
Check your child’s homework for
accuracy
Homework is not used as a grade. It’s
meant to reinforce the skills learned in
school
Make sure your child’s homework is in
his/her homework folder
Initial your child’s reading log each
night
Homework: Approximately 1 hour, plus
20 minutes of reading
Absence: Students will have one full day
for each day absent from school to
make-up an assignment
Math
Guided Math
Math instruction will be
hands-on and technology
driven.
Math 4 Today- Used to
reinforce and practice
math skills.

Language Arts
Spelling– Pre-test at beginning of the week.
Students that pass will not need to take a test

Social Studies
Units will rotate on a 2-3 week
schedule.
Instruction will follow GPS

Social Studies will begin with a unit
on the Civil War.
Science will begin with a unit on
Getting Ready for Science.
Students will have projects to
complete each grading period.
Civil War Education Day and

Reminders About School Polices
Transportation changes must be a written noteNO EMAILS. Notes must be sent the day of the
change. FAX OR WRITTEN notes only. Try to
have all notes delivered to the office before 2
p.m. if your child’s transportation changes after
he/she arrived at school.
Keep your child at home if he/she is sick.
Please try to limit disruptions during class
learning.
Absences- Send in a note to school for your
child’s absence.
Birthday celebrations are held in the lunch
room (treats for the class are welcome)/ NO
distributing invitations in school. All treats must
be cut into 26 pieces, plus one for the teacher

At Epworth by the Sea on St.
Simons Island

2 Dads with a boy in the class
