• •
Temperature distribution during heat waves
Motivation:
• Need to determine criteria for heat wave warnings • How well HKI-Kaisaniemi and HKI-Vantaa FMI stations represent capital area on hot days?
• Pilot for more detailed study
Case studies of 2 to 5 hot days
• 1 to 3 measurement days of Lämsä-project (in June) • 1 to 2 hot days in July, temp > 30 o C in HKI-Vantaa 28.4.2020

Expected findings
• •
Kaisaniemi is relatively cool station in Helsinki urban area HKI-Vantaa: airport, 30 km from the centre, not representative for urban area
• •
-> Testbed data very useful Spatial temperature distribution and Heat stress experienced by risks groups (e.g. outdoor workers) should be considered while determining the heat warning threshold values
•
Experience of using Testbed-data
• Data digging very hard • Need for some new tools for the interface 28.4.2020
