You must meet all qualifications including: A minimum GPA of 2.50 Must be admitted to your Major Department Must have cleared an FBI Criminal Background Check Must have passed all sections of the C-BASE exam prior to December 31, 2013 or have passed all sections of the MoGEA (Undergraduates) Must have taken the Missouri Educator Profile (MEP) and have discussed it with your academic advisor. 9 Take the Missouri Content Assessment for your major (Unless you passed the Praxis before August 31, 2014) The Missouri Content Assessment is required to have been taken prior to your student teaching semester. You do not have to pass it before you student teach—Must be passed to get your teaching certificate UCM Policy—”All required courses must be completed prior to student teaching.” 10 Appeals to the Teacher Education Committee should only be filed if there are Extenuating Circumstances. For Fall Semester, that means you are there the first day your teacher comes in to get their classroom ready. With Co-Teaching, we need to use school districts that will give us quick responses to our Student Teaching Placement Requests. School districts are getting more picky. Make sure that all of your paperwork is done correctly and on time. Being Late may mean your paperwork gets to the School Districts Late and may keep you from being placed in your choice of districts!! 51 • Make sure that you have all three of the forms filled out before the Checklist Meeting • If the forms are not ready, you will be asked to attend a later meeting. • Checklist Meeting will last 30 minutes. • You will not be placed without attending one of these Meetings! • You’ll be given a copy of the checklist • Keep it! Make sure that district is your first choice! You will not be placed in your home district unless it is a large district (i.e. Blue Springs, Independence, etc.) • List two regions and two school districts in each region—not individual school buildings. • Do not attempt to arrange a placement for yourself, or select your supervising teacher. All placements must be arranged through our office and through the school districts! • We enroll you for Student Teaching and any other classes required by your major department through our office. • List clearly and concisely any unusual conditions that might affect your student teaching placement. • Coaching (athletics) does not dictate a student’s placement. Coaching does not count as Student Teaching hours. • Keep us informed regarding any changes: address, phone number, name, etc. Our53 office is not automatically informed when you make a change in another office. Begin preparation for your student teaching semester now. Other than the meetings indicated on the student teaching calendar, you are to follow the schedule and calendar of the school system to which you are assigned. The above assignment is contingent upon you successfully meeting all standards for admission to student teaching established by the Teacher Education Council and the Director of Clinical Services and Certification. The Student Teacher Orientation Conference for all student teachers will begin at 9:30 a.m. on August 23, 2007 in the University Union. The Student Teacher Handbook is available at www.ucmo.edu/teach and will be reviewed at the Orientation Conference as it contains important information vital to your student teaching experience. Attendance is mandatory at all student teacher conferences. A calendar for your student teaching semester is available at www.ucmo.edu/teach. A form for a parking pass is available at www.ucmo.edu/teach. The form can be completed by you and returned to Parking Services with a check, payable to UCM, for the correct amount, if you are interested. The fee is $1 per day; a pass will be mailed to you. You are expected to observe faculty dress and faculty regulations at your assigned school. You are not to participate in activities of the university which conflict with teaching duties during this semester. Employment and/or classes in addition to student teaching are strongly discouraged.
