– Min. TSR of 0.65 for metal roofing
– Min. TSR of 0.73 for tile roofing
• Future: Flat incentive as of November 1, 2006
– $325 to customer purchasing qualified roof, and
– $200 to contractor selling qualified roof
• Spring 2007
– Adding $0.50/ft2 incentive for residential condominium roofs
• White membranes or white coatings with min TSR of 0.73

Qualifying Requirements – Low Slope
• Low Slope: Surface with a slope of 2:12 or less
– Initial Solar Reflectance of:
• Greater or Equal to 65%
– Maintenance of SR: (three year reading)
• greater than or equal to 50% (-15% SR over 3 years) under normal
conditions.
– Thermal Emittance:
• Greater than or equal to 75%.
– SRI Alternative: to be used if the roof product cannot achieve
thermal emittance value:
• Initial SRI equal to or greater to 75
– Maintenance of SRI: equal to greater to 53

Tax Credits and Deductions
• Residential
– Tax credits up to $500 for home improvements
(homeowners)
– Tax credits up to $2000 for new home energy
efficiency (contractors)
• Commercial
– Tax deductions up to $1.80/ft2 for energy efficient
building (building owners)
• For taxable years 2006 and 2007
Tax credits – Existing Homes
• All ENERGY STAR® labeled metal roofs qualify for the
$500 tax credit
• Must be expected to last 5 years OR have a 2 year
warranty
• Installation costs are not included
• Manufacturer’s Certification Statement is required
– For tax purposes, save your receipt and the Manufacturer's
Certification Statement
– The IRS encourages manufacturers to provide these
Certifications on their website to facilitate identification of
qualified products
– Homeowner does not have to submit a copy with tax returns
Tax Credits are More Valuable
Than Tax Deductions
• Tax credits reduce amount of tax owed dollar for dollar
• Tax deduction merely reduces amount of income subject to tax
Example:
$500 tax credit saves a person $500 in taxes
$500 tax deduction saves a person $140 in taxes
$2000 tax credit saves a person $2000 in taxes
$2000 tax deduction saves a person $560 in taxes

Thermal Emittance: the ability of a material to release heat that it has
absorbed. Range is from 0 to 1.0. The higher the emittance the better

Custom Color: A Custom Color is not individually promoted in general product
information and marketing materials.
