Shall not cancel IFR unless anticipated that flight will be continued for a reasonable period of time in uninterrupted visual meteorological conditions. Change shall only be acceptable only when message “CANCELLING MY IFR FLIGHT” initiated by pilot-in-command. AT C Advise pilot if aware that IMC likely to be encountered along the route of flight. Acknowledgement “IFR FLIGHT CANCELLED AT ... (time)”; Inform other ATS units to whom the IFR FPL was addressed except those passed; VFR to IFR Submit FPL to ATC, communicate changes, obtain a clearance prior proceeding IFR when in controlled airspace. 10 AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER LARNACA AIRPORT Simulated IFR subject to ATC approval… fully functioning dual controls… qualified pilot occupies a control seat to act as Safety Pilot for the person who is flying under SIM instrument conditions… the Safety Pilot shall have adequate vision forward and to each side of the aircraft… ATS provision as VFR flight... 11 AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER LARNACA AIRPORT Night VFR Night VFR Route Min Altitude: 3000ft AMSL (climb/descent in airport vicinity) Route Description: Salt Lake – Kophinou – Yermasoyia dam – Kouris dam – Avdimou – Ahelia vv. Weather Minima Visibility 10k at both airports (cross country), or 8km (circuits). No clouds below the level which is 1000ft above level of flight. No warning of deterioration in the minima above. Authorization Subject to traffic and MET conditions, authorized by ATC to operate only in aerodome vicinity or on designated route, provided pilot, or instructor of a training flight, is a holder of a valid PPL license with night-flight rating qualification. 12 AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER LARNACA AIRPORT VFR Radio Failure Procedures Aircraft North/West Set A7600. Last cleared altitude. Arrive over salt lake. Observe aerodrome traffic, RWY-in-use. Orbit/descend 500 ft over roundabout abeam the Control Tower. Look out for ATC light signals. Rock the wings as acknowledgement when observing signal. GREEN RED climb 1000ft, join circuit via RD RWY22 or LD RWY04. climb 1000ft, remain over salt lake. Repeat when traffic permits. 13 AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER LARNACA AIRPORT Aircraft East/South (sea) Set A7600. Last assigned altitude. Arrive on downwind abeam Control Tower. Observe aerodrome traffic, RWY in-use. Orbit/descend 500ft on downwind. Look for ATC light signals. Rock wings for acknowledgement when observing signal. GREEN RED maintain 500ft, join circuit via LD RWY22 or RD RWY04. remain abeam Control Tower, continue orbiting until a green signal observed. 14 AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER LARNACA AIRPORT Emergency Procedures Local Standby declared when an aircraft approaching the airport is known or is suspected to have developed some defect but the trouble is not such as would normally involve any serious difficulty in affecting a safe landing. Full Emergency declared when an aircraft approaching the airport is known or is suspected to be in such a trouble that there is an imminent danger for accident. Flight crew may be reluctant to use the standard prefixes to inform ATC initially. Controllers shall ask pilot if declaring an emergency. If the pilot declined to do so, the controller may, if he considers it appropriate, carry out the necessary actions as if the pilot had declared an emergency. 15 AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER LARNACA AIRPORT External Notification State of Emergency Internal Notification LOCAL STANDBY ARFF SATCO Hermes Operations AIS Office FULL EMERGENCY CRASH ON AIRPORT CRASH OFF AIRPORT CRASH ON WATER ARFF Hermes Operations JRCC BOMB THREAT HIJACK SABOTAGE ARFF Hermes Operations DCA Airport Services SATCO Hermes Operations AIS Office ARFF ACC, PHA, AKR JRCC Hermes Operations ARFF Hermes Operations ARFF STRUCTURAL FIRE NATURAL DISASTER HAZMAT MEDICAL GROUND EMERGENCY AVIATE NAVIGATE COMMUNICATE 16 AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER LARNACA AIRPORT 17 AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER LARNACA AIRPORT 18
