You must be given this
to explain the reason
for a 72-hour hold.

I am unable or unwilling to
accept voluntary treatment.
What is a criteria for a 5150?
CATEGORY III
5250
If you are a minor, this is the
amount of time you may be
held on a 5250.
What is: 14 days the same as
an adult.
This type of hearing
automatically takes place
within 4 days of being
placed on 14 day hold.
What is a Probable Cause
Hearing (PCH)?
Midnight on the 14th
calendar day.
What is the end of a
14 day hold?
As soon as you receive a
certification for Intensive
Treatment you may request
this to get out of the
hospital.
What is a Writ of
Habeas Corpus?
The Welfare & Institution Code
that allows certification for
intensive treatment related to a
mental disorder or impairment
by chronic alcoholism for a
period of 14 days.
What is a 5250?
The maximum length of time
a PCH Hearing can be
delayed?
What is 48 hours?
