stormwater to get to a water body.
The following slides show the Six Minimum
Control Measures needed to keep stormwater,
and our lakes and rivers, clean.

Public Education and Outreach
Inform individuals and households on ways to reduce
stormwater pollution, such as:
1. Washing cars on their lawns, instead of on pavement that drains to
the storm system.
2. Spreading the word that most stormwater catch basins drain
directly to the river.
3. Reducing stormwater runoff from their property by installing rain
barrels and rain gardens.
4. Notifying the City stormwater department if someone is seen
discharging pollutants to the stormwater system.
Public Participation / Involvement
Engaging and involving stakeholders in the Lower Grand
River Watershed:

Post-Construction Runoff Control
Developers and property owners must address
stormwater runoff after construction is completed.
1. Storage is to be provided to make preconstruction runoff equal post-construction
runnoff.
2. Water quality measures are to be installed to keep
pollutants out of the City stormwater system.
