Family Care Plan
What is it?
A plan that provides for the care of family members and personal responsibilities in the event of the Service Member’s absence
Why have one?
Ensures personal readiness of service member and reduce family-related stress
MCO 1740.13A
Requirement for:
Active duty, single parent with custody of dependent child/children. Dual military couple with dependents.
Active duty responsible for the complete care of another adult family member.
Active duty’s spouse is frequently absent due to career/job commitments.
What if I don ’ t have a Family Care Plan?
Failure to provide an adequate Family Care Plan can result in: Burden on Command Unnecessary stress for children Distracts Marine/Sailor from mission
What’s in a Family Care Plan?
Information a caregiver needs to care for children/dependent adult in the Marine/Sailor’s absence. The FCP covers 4 major areas: Legal Financial Medical Logistical NAVPERS 1740/7 Family Care Plan Arrangements
