SSA #38 Northcenter Reconstitution

Let’s Build A Better Northcenter Together

SSA Mission Statement Special Service Area #38 was created in 2006 to provide enhanced cleaning, landscaping, snow removal and other services to Northcenter’s primary streets, to help beautify and promote Northcenter as a desirable place to live, work and play.

PLACE Consulting, Inc.

Need for Northcenter’s SSA:

• No source of funding exists for cleaning, greening and promoting a neighborhood, except the SSA • Limited funds exist for promoting, marketing a neighborhood • SSA allows for the creation and implementation of visioning efforts • City and state funding sources are being cut or eliminated • Need to maintain ongoing, consistent and reliable funding for community initiatives, events and programs • SSAs provide a locally controlled way for our community to implement enhancements in the way we envision them • SSA funding ensures local tax dollars go to local services PLACE Consulting, Inc.

Admin and Personnel Average Costs

What Does SSA #38 Northcenter Cost Me?

• • • • • Every property owner within the designated SSA pays an additional property tax levy that is used for the services on SSA streets. This assessment is collected by the County Treasurer when you pay your property tax bill. The money is then put into a bank account that only Northcenter Chamber of Commerce can use for Commissioner-approved SSA Services.

The amount you are assessed is based on the Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) of your property. The most you could ever pay in any given year is .333% of your EAV, which is the upper-most cap, but it will likely be much less, depending upon the cost of services that year.

The SSA ensures that a larger portion of your property tax dollars stay in the neighborhood and go to services that benefit you, not to a general fund downtown.
