High fidelity prototyping
Why move past paper prototyping?
•More sophisticated prototype methods provide
additional realism to the review experience.
•Test feedback will be more reflective of the actual end
product and user experience.
•Additional areas of navigation, behavior and appearance
can be tested.

High fidelity prototyping
Some Tools available for higher fidelity prototyping
PPT
- easy to set up simple dialog and button navigations. Can be enhanced
using Photoshop screens. Cannot reflect actual widget behavior and more complex
behavior.
HTML
- easy to set up dialog and button navigations. Can be enhanced using
Photoshop screens. Can reflect actual final product depending on target
development platform.
Photoshop
- primary used to explore visual concepts and final design
directions. Cannot provide interactivity without help from another program.
Can give a false sense of WYSIWYG.
Visual BASIC
- very easy to use tool that can include all standard Microsoft
widget behaviors and look and feel. Programming ability can provide advance
functionality to a prototype. Not good for custom widget or look and feel beyond
microsoft platforms. [?] Dangerous in the wrong hands.
Macromedia Flash and Director
- steeper learning curve
interactive programming tool. Complete customizing ability for widgets and visuals.
Some standard widgets and behaviors available. Many different plug ins available.

Final stages
Design hardness
Using a higher effort tool here would likely result
in wasted effort. The design is too fluid and likely
to change to justify a high use of resource

Using a low fidelity tool here would likely result
in an unrealistic prototype that would not
resemble the final intention in behavior or look
and feel
