Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College Associate Degree Nursing Admission Process Phase 3: Petition to be Admitted to the ADN Core Program Before you proceed with the Petition Process ask yourself: “Am I ready?” Is this the right time for me to begin? • • • • Do I have reliable transportation? Do I have financial support in place? Do I have family support? Do I have reliable childcare? Before you proceed with the Petition Process ask yourself: “Am I ready?” Is this the right career for me? • Students are encouraged to explore with a WITC counselor the career of nursing fully before making the significant commitment this program and the profession demands – nursing is NOT for everyone! Before you proceed with the Petition Process ask yourself: “Am I ready?” How much time will I need to devote to studying? • Many students experience “culture shock” at the rigor and demands of the core nursing program • For every 1 hour of class, you should expect to study 3 hours outside of class Before you proceed with the Petition Process ask yourself: “Am I ready?” Should I work while in the core nursing courses? • Successful students work limited hours, if they work at all • It is highly recommended that you limit your hours of outside work while in the program • Don’t let a job interfere with your dream to become a Registered Nurse! Before you proceed with the Petition Process ask yourself: “Am I ready?” Have I included my family in this decision? • Successful students have supportive family members who are willing to take on some of your responsibilities so that you can be successful at school • These adjustments can be very difficult and family members can grow weary over time • Have an honest dialogue with family members to ensure that they can support you for “the long haul” If you can honestly answer YES to the “Am I ready?” questions, move forward with the ADN Admissions Petition Process Log in to the Webpage • To access the Priority Petition Process forms, go to this link: http://www.witc.edu/pgmpages/nurseassoc/admissions.htm • PRINT OFF of all forms posted for Petition Process Step 3 • Refer to these forms throughout this presentation Log in to the ADN Admissions Webpage and print these forms Supporting Documents (PDF) 1.Petition Instructions 2.FAQ’s Priority Petition Admissions Process 3.Functional Abilities and Statement of Understanding 4.Caregiver Background Check and Statement of Understanding 4.Intent to Enroll Petition Requirements 1.
