• Radio System Project
• Implemented radio system to improve interoperability.
• Migrated Virginia Tech Police and Blacksburg Police operations to
common radio spectrum to improve communications and
interoperability.
• Officers can now communicate directly with member law
enforcement agencies and dispatch centers during any event.
• Leveraged same microwave backbone for infrastructure needs.
• Virginia Tech Rescue will soon benefit from same infrastructure
allowing another level of interoperability.

• Staff review and discuss current procedures and technology
• Staff assist with review of other consolidated centers and lessons
learned.
• Participated in CAD demo day as exploratory session to gain
knowledge of current features and functionality.

automation project to benefit regional 9-1-1 center and improve

• Merge GIS data between jurisdictions to create regional dataset
with updated data layers crucial for 9-1-1 dispatching.
• Project received grant funds from Virginia E-911 PSAP (Public
Safety Answering Point) Grant Program.
• Assist with batch process to import FCC data into radio
propagation software.
