Comparatives
One-syllable adjectives normally have comparatives
ending in –er.
example:
old - older
cheap - cheaper
Two-syllable adjectives can have -er, especially
ending in an unstressed vowel.
example
narrow - narrower
clever - cleverer
Comparatives
Three or more syllable comparative adjective starts
with more.
example:
beautiful - more beautiful
difficult - more difficult
Two-syllable adjectives ending in -ing, -ed, ful, and less.
example
tired - more tired
boring – more boring
Superlatives
One-syllable adjectives normally have comparatives
ending in –est.
example:
old - oldest
cheap - cheapest
Some two-syllable adjectives are similar.
example
narrow - narrowest
clever - cleverest
Superlatives

with most.
example:

Adjectives ending in -e: + -r, -st.

• I am as old as he.
Inequality:
• Your car runs faster than mine.
• This girl is less naughty than that boy.

• I am the best in the class.
