Emergency Shelter: House the Displaced
Security: Back Up Public Safety

Emotional Support: Counsel the Distressed

EPC Neighborhood Teams
• Villages divided into 25 EPC sectors
• Each sector has 2 or 3 Sector Co-Chiefs
• Each sector divided into several areas of 10 to
14 residences
• Each area has 2 Area Representatives
• EPC Medic(s) assigned to sector if available

Disaster Activation – Specialist Teams
• Medical Directors & Staff to Trauma Center
– Also Emotional Support Team, Engineering &
Communications support for TC
– (EPC Medics go to assigned Sector Aid Stations)
• Other Directors & Staff assemble at VEOC
– Communications Room activated, comm traffic starts
– Directors process reports & requests from Sectors
– Advise SJ EOC on Villages situation; ask for
assistance if needed
– Manage The Villages disaster response until VG&CC
Management and Staff can resume effective control

Disaster Activation - Area Reps
• Check own household members
• Grab Area Information & Assessment Forms
• Perform Area Inspection (Search & Rescue)
– Account for all households
– Provide or obtain help for those injured
• Report to Sector Chief at Aid Station
– Assist Chief as needed

Receive & record reports from Area Reps
Direct EPC Medics to sites with injuries
If needed, get help from EOC or Trauma Center

Report Sector status to VEOC

Provide on-site professional medical care
Decide how and whether to move patients
Consult by Sector radio with Trauma Center on
treatment of more serious injuries

• Annual Expo on Community Preparedness (June)
• Disaster Response Classes by SJP (July)
• Annual Community Disaster Drill (October)
- Includes whole EPC Team Briefing 2 weeks before Drill
• First Aid & CPR/AED Classes (Waiting List)
• New Resident Orientation, Red Folder, Vial of Life
• Periodic Radio checks at Chiefs & Directors Mtgs
• Evaluation for Continuing Improvement
