Partners: • • • • • • Faculty RHEIs Students Community groups Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Ahmedabad Field Studies Council (FSC), UK National Lottery Charities Board (now Big Lottery Fund), UK CEE Centre for Environment Education Samvardhan - I Major activities • Curriculum analysis and infusion • Training, exposure tours, and visits for • Faculty • Students • Community groups • Educational material development • Establishing and strengthening resource centres • Implementation of micro projects in villages CEE Centre for Environment Education Samvardhan - I Achievements • 3 RHEIs, 40 faculties, 130 students, and 750 families from 15 villages benefitted from the initiative. • Supplementary materials developed for (3 exhibitions, 2 books, 2 manuals and 2 booklets) key stakeholders. • Two universities integrated the inputs in Rural Development curriculum Learnings • Environment-development, lives-livelihood are inter-related and degradation puts poor (bio-dependent) at high risk • Need is to priorities and develop, demonstrate and disseminate the operational models for Sustainable Development. • Need based education and locale specific communication strategies are critical in the process of sustaining developmental initiatives CEE Centre for Environment Education Building on phase - I • Project area selection is based on the experiences from Phase - I • The Community Entrepreneurs (CEs) are graduates, we have worked with in phase – I • Samvardhan – II works to fulfill the phase – I commitment of building a cadre for sustainable development. • The advisory committee provided expert guidance in formulation of phase – II.
