Over the next 20 years…
Kern County’s population will double.
Our streets, roads, and public transit systems need
significant repairs and upgrades.
More than $2 billion in additional funding is needed
for transportation improvements.

Kern County’s population will double.
The San Joaquin Valley population is projected to grow from
3.2 million to 6.2 million over the next 20 years.
In Kern County, we have had significant growth over the past
20 years.

With population growth there is growth in housing
units
and vehicles
By 2030 there will need to be 160,000 housing
units
By 2030 there will be an additional 400,000 cars
on the roads.

To over 278,000 hours/ day in 2030

Additional Funding
is Not Available…
Kern County currently has a $400 million backlog of road
rehabilitation projects.
If additional revenue is not identified, traffic congestion and
the condition of our roads will get worse.
We can’t rely on Sacramento to address our local problems.
We must take matters into our own hands.

rehabilitation funding
$1 billion in public transportation and air quality
funding
