Middle School math placement will determined by:
Previous grade’s EOG
School-issued final exam
Teacher recommendation
IOWA overall math score
Parent input
Flexibility
Pre-testing in August will confirm a student’s
placement in course for the year
Pre-Algebra will offer a 5 or 6 period per week option
Algebra will offer a 5 or 7 period per week option
Quarterly option to switch between 5 and 6 (or 7) day
option depending on student performance
Support
In the Classroom
Differentiation, accommodations for students with learning
differences, supplemental materials for support or enrichment,
parent volunteers, teacher appointments
Course Options in Pre-Algebra and Algebra
Volunteers, tutors, and study halls
Example: Rising 8th graders receiving extra support during 4th
quarter
