• 7:45 First bell rings/students enter classroom 7:50-8:00 Announcements /Attendance/Lunch Count 8:00-9:00 WIN Time (reading/math intervention) • 9:00–10:00 Language Arts: Reading/Phonics • 10:00–10:35 Writer’s Workshop • 10:35-11:25 Lunch (Each class has 30 minutes) • 11:25-11:45 Math Problem Solving/Number Talks • 11:45-12:30 Specials • 12:30-1:00 Science/Social Studies • 1:00-1:20 Recess • 1:20-2:45 Math and Math Workstations • 2:45 Pack Up/Dismissal • 3:00 Dismissal

Our Mission

• To give your child the academic and social skills he/she will need to progress to first grade.

Reading (Building Blocks Curriculum)

• Letters/letter sounds by Winter Break • Letters, words, and sentences • Popcorn Words/Word Wall words • Rhyming • Syllables • Comprehension questions-Explicit/Implicit • Reading Levels A to D • I-Station-administered October, January, and May • Reading Log in agenda-READ DAILY!!

Writing

• Print Concepts: Left to Right, Top to Bottom • Writing/Copying names and familiar words (environmental print) • Writes words phonetically • Writes sentences using popcorn words.

• Writes simple stories on one topic.

Math

• Investigation Curriculum/Go Math!

• Counting, identifying, & writing numbers 0-20 • Counting to 100 • Shapes • Number Sense • Hands-On Problem Solving • Simple addition and subtraction problems

Science/Social Studies

• Students must demonstrate understanding through: • Participation • Mastering center activities • Social Studies :Focused on community, citizenship, culture and changes over time.

• Science: Hands-on and Inquiry Based – Five senses, life cycles, animal habitats and much more!
