Central High School College Application Process ***Common Application*** ($1 fee per application)

- Once the student secures the college application directly from Common Application ) s/he should go through the following steps: 1.

2.

3.

Log onto Family Connection: connection.naviance.com/chsstp Use your student portal username and password to access your account. DO NOT add “zz” to your password. If this doesn’t work, try again by adding the “zz.” Go to the college tab and click on “Colleges I’m Applying To.”  Complete the FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy ACT) waiver privacy statement in the blue box. If you haven’t created an account with Common App, now is the time to do so ( www.commonapp.org

) so that you can enter your Common App username and password in this section.

Common Question: What does it mean to waive or not to waive your rights to access your

college application, forms, etc? We recommend you DO waive your right to access your application. This gives teachers and counselors the comfort to answer questions truthfully. If a student does not waive his/her rights, this can be a red flag to colleges and can sometimes result in denial. In the “Colleges I’m Applying To” link, list all the schools to which you plan to apply. Indicate application deadlines if not regular decision. When you’re done, you should see the names of all your colleges in a list on the “Colleges I’m Applying To” page. If you have Common App schools AND non-Common App schools you’re applying to, they will all be in this list.
