Institute is established are:
A. To improve the standard of
driving and for the
advancement of road safety.
B. To establish an advanced
driving test.

• Renowned Advanced Driving and
Motorcycling courses and tests
• Introduced Cycling Initiative.
• 215 volunteer groups across the UK.
• c. half a million Advanced tests
• Currently c.100,000 members.

• Grow Membership; Aim to appeal to

• Evolved from the AA Motoring Trust and
subsequently from the IAM Motoring Trust
• Undertake a programme of transport and
road safety research
• Research Driver/Rider/Transport behaviour
• Promote practical, evidence-based policies
to improve the safety of all road users
• Be an effective advocate for safer roads,
safer drivers and safer vehicles
