Goal #1:
Increase access to the Advanced Placement Program®
for all New Mexico students
According to research conducted in 1998 and
2004, the PSAT/NMSQT® scores are significant
predictors of students' AP® Exam grades, thus a
useful program in identifying students who may
be successful in AP courses.
AP Potential™: Web based tool that allows
schools to generate rosters of students who are
likely to score a 3 or better on a given AP Exam
based on a student’s PSAT/NMSQT scores.
2006 PSAT/NMSQT & 2007 AP Potential Data
2006 PSAT/NMSQT test-takers – New Mexico (all students):
15,052 (77.4% increase over 2005)
2006 PSAT/NMSQT – 13 participating districts (10th grade):
7,045 (884% increase over 2005)
2007 AP Potential Students – 13 participating districts (10th
grade):
17,868 (number of AP Exams likely to earn a score of 3-5)
