How is a student nominated for AIG in New
Hanover County?
A student may be nominated in
various ways:
• Screening by GES and school staff
• Self-nomination
• Peer nomination
•Parent nomination
•Teacher nomination

Standards
Practice 1d states that the district program will
initiate “screening, referral, and identification
procedures that respond to traditionally
under-represented populations of the gifted
and are responsive to the LEA demographics.”

school. A student
must meet 4 out of
the 5 criteria to qualify
for AIG.
