The Programme consists of 3 parts with a total of 80 credit hours. Online Learning & Facilitation (HPEI7043) May 2015 Course Delivery Self-managed learning • Students are provided with specially developed learning modules which allows for self-paced learning. Face-to-face seminar • Students are encouraged to attend the face-to-face seminars for a total of 15 hours per semester for each course (i.e. 5 seminar sessions with 3 hours per session). The facilitators who conduct the seminars are recruited by the university based on their expertise. Online learning • Students have 24x7 access to online learning via the OUM Learning Management System (myVLE). This further enables access to the huge collection in the digital library as well as collaborative learning with peers and discussions with facilitators. Plagiarized assignments will be rejected. • Assignments should be submitted on time. Student is to submit a soft copy of each assignment via myVLE and a hard copy to the facilitator. Keep the receipt as evidence of online submission. • For online students, submit a soft copy of each assignment via myVLE & another soft copy to the facilitator via e-mail. EdD Program May 2015 Part 3 (Research Phase) Research Proposal & Dissertation Proposal Writing Proposal Defense (PD) optional Progress Report Presentation & Preliminary Findings Presentation Dissertation & VIVA VOCE EdD Program May 2015 Assessment (Research Phase) Proposal Assessed by a Proposal Defense (PD) Panel comprising One (1) chairman Two (2) assessors Dissertation Examined by a VIVA Panel, comprising One (1) Chairman Two (2) Examiners (at least 1 external) EdD Program May 2015 Teaching/Learning Material Textbooks E-Books Online Resources (digital library, webbased resources, etc.) Note: Textbooks provided are meant to be used as references EdD Program May 2015 Entry Requirements Master’s degree in Education, or Master’s degree other than Education and possess Bachelor’s degree in Education; or Master’s degree other than Education and possess Diploma/Certificate in Teaching; or Master’s degree other than Education and possess at least 2-year teaching experience; or Master’s degree other than Education and pass three (3) bridging courses offered by the university; or Any equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government EdD Program May 2015 Candidates without any education background are required to take and pass (grade B) THREE (3) Bridging Courses prior to joining the EdD programme. The total fees quoted are based on the minimum expected period to successfully complete the programme. Examination fees vary and subject to change based on its format.
