Transcript Developing Daily Lesson Plans

Developing Daily
Lesson Plans
Objectives
Discuss the issues associated with weeklong, teacher-centered, theme-based
planning.
2. Construct lesson plans for children by
combining knowledge about curriculum
content, children’s developmental levels and
interests.
3. Develop a daily lesson plan form appropriate
for your program

3
Talk about it:
1.
What is your planning routine?
2.
What are the types of things you plan for
daily?
3.
What is the most challenging part of your
day? What makes it difficult or stressful?
4
Intentional Planning
We should be planning every day by
incorporating:

Specific content (KDIs)

Children’s interests

Children’s developmental abilities

Classroom materials
5
What are the benefits of
planning daily?
Planning Process
Start with Specific Observations
 Look for:
• Activities and materials that children choose
• How children work with the materials
• How children interact with other children and adults
Plan by incorporating:
 Specific content areas (key developmental indicators)
 Children’s developmental abilities
 Children’s interests
 Classroom materials
Planning Elements
 Plan daily, as a team.
 Keep planning forms simple, based on your daily routine.
 Use anecdotes to assess children’s interest and abilities.
7
Watch Daily Team Planning
Look for examples of:
 Specific content (key developmental
indicators)
 Children’s developmental abilities
 Children’s interests
 Classroom materials
8
Using Information from Observations
for Lesson Planning
As you plan, ask yourself these three
questions:
1. What did I see children doing today?
2. What do their actions tell me about them?
 Their development level?
 Their interests?
3. How can I provide materials and interact
with children to support their learning?

while looking at the
alphabet puzzle, Brianna
pointed to B, and said,
"This is my name."

Getting to Know Tylon

In table groups,
read through
Tylon’s anecdotes.

Discuss what you
know about his
development and
his interests.

We also have to consider the other children.
