Franklin D. Roosevelt
The 32nd U.S President (1933- 1945), led the nation through
both the Great Depression and World War 2
 Helped American people regain faith in themselves
Brought hope and promised prompt,
vigorous action, and asserted in his
Inaugural Address , “the only thing we have
to fear is fear itself”
“ Four Freedoms” speech
Four freedoms:
1. Freedom of speech and expression
2. Freedom of every person to worship God in his
own way
3. Freedom from want
4. Freedom from fear
FDR’s edits- to make sure the world understands that the Four
Freedoms must be respected “everywhere in the world”
Roosevelt Corollary
Latin America consumed a fair amount of Roosevelt’s time and energy during
his first term as President
Santo Domingo also encountered problems with European countries
