skills and knowledge required for universities or
institutes of higher learning in Singapore and
abroad
• Offers the A-Level Curriculum
• Choice of subject combinations with subjects
offered at three levels of study – Higher 1 (H1),
Higher 2 (H2) and Higher 3 (H3)
• The H2 is equivalent to the GCE A-level subjects
offered prior to 2006

hands-on experience within a dynamic and
progressive learning environment
• Five polytechnics in Singapore offering marketdriven courses, which lead students to fulfilling
careers, as well as preparing them for further
studies
• One of the features of polytechnic education is
the strong emphasis on practice-based learning

Pathways for N(A)
Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP)
•
A one-year foundation programme for polytechnicbound students offering a practice-oriented
curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers.
•
PFP students are given provisional places in diploma
programmes, subject to them passing all modules in
the one-year PFP.
Pathways for N(A)
Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic (DPP)
•
Students accepted into the DPP will enrol into Higher Nitec
courses at ITE, and are subsequently guaranteed a place
in a polytechnic diploma course mapped to their Higher
Nitec, subject to them meeting the Grade Point Average
(GPA) requirements.
•
For engineering courses, outstanding students who meet
the GPA requirements can be admitted into 2nd year of

Home-School Partnership
Making Informed Decisions Together
• Know your child’s strengths, interests, learning styles and
passion
• Discuss with your child his/her career aspirations
• Consider the type of learning environment (eg. applied
learning) that will be more suited for your child’s learning
style, strengths
• Research on the academic and non-academic entry
requirements of the school/course that your child is keen
on and whether it will help him/her achieve his/her
career aspirations
Premier School, Serving Community
Home-School Partnership
• Ensure an appropriate
study environment for
the child.
• Reinforce good study
habits and attitudes.
• Facilitate homework
completion, not teach
content. Parents are not
expected to be content
experts.
