Access Engine & BIS suite – a strong platform
 BIS Access Engine is designed modular
 Extend Access Engine just by licensing the number of cardholders,
entrances and some other optional features
 You can extend Access Engine with BIS common features like location
maps for a comfortable access management and door control system
 Using the BIS alarm management features allows to show real-time any
alarm event from any door, such as door open time exceeded, PIN
code/duress alarm, etc.

Access Engine – The standard features
 Areas and area balancing
Definition of areas, number of people or cars inside and monitoring of
them. Reaching the limits may be used to generate an alarm message
and/or automatic control. Entrance and exit readers are required.
 Access for N persons
Allows to set a reader in a mode that at least two authorized persons
must swipe badge that door opens. Number of necessary persons
configurable individual per reader
 Route
Allows to define a sequence of doors/readers a cardholder has strictly to
follow when entering a site or area. Any violation will generate an alarm
message using all the common BIS alarm management features.

Access Engine – The standard features
 Mantrap
Specific door template to set up a mantrap consisting of 2 doors and up to
4 readers with all corresponding dependencies, done with a few clicks
and specific settings. Often used in high security areas.
 Elevator interface
Specific door template to set up the access authorizations to floors inside
an elevator. Activates the allowed floor buttons after swiping the badge
and having the access authorization. Up to 56 floors per elevator
possible.
 Interface IDS arm/disarm
Specific door template to set up the possibility of arming/disarming an
Intrusion Detection System (IDS) via a keypad reader.

Manual control to unlock doors remotely from BIS location map view, BIS
device overview or other views. Door is locked again after defined door
open time exceeds.

 Employee drawing / Random screening
Allows to set up readers in that way that access is denied randomly.
Operators get an alarm and are advised to check the person and their
belongings. The badge is blocked in the entire system till the operator
unblocks it after the check. VIPs could be excluded from that practice.
 Guard tour
Allows to group readers in a specific way and to use them as guard tour
checkpoints. The guard has to pass the readers in the defined sequence
and time. Any violation will generate an alarm message using all the
common BIS alarm management features.

 Visitor management
Allows you to manage visitor master records beside the corporate
employee records. You can define the ID card’s period of validity, if the
visitor is allowed to move around only with escort, whom to visit, etc.
Provides a visitor passport print out.

Access Engine – The standard features
 Import / Export interface
Allows to import already existing cardholder data from a HR system into
the ACE database instead of entering it twice. Vice versa if ACE is the
leading system this feature allows you export master records in the other
direction to use it in 3rd party applications.
The import/export format could be easily adapted to the external
application’s structure. Imports and exports could be performed manually,
but the big advantage of the interface is the detailed scheduling
functionality.

 Anti-Passback
Blocks a card at a reader or group of readers to be used twice in a given
period of time. A violation will cause an alarm message where all common
BIS alarm features could be used, such as location maps, alarm plans,
live video, etc.

 Access sequence check (part of Access area balancing)
Defines that a cardholder has to pass a dedicated area to enter a next one. A
violation will cause an alarm message. In the following example Area B and C
are only allowed to enter after officially passing Area A. Exit and entrance

 Card personalization
Provides the creation of badge designs which could be used for badge
printing inside the Access Engine. You can use bitmaps, text and any
ACE database field for designing the badge content. Print out to standard
card printer. Acknowledgement print out.

Access Engine – Optional features
 Video verification
Allows to set readers to a specific control mode. Swiping a badge will first
trigger a message on the operator‘s workstation. By using additional
video equipment a live image and the cardholder‘s database image are
displayed in parallel. The operator has to decide to grant or deny the
access manually by pushing the corresponding button on the screen.

Access Engine – Optional features
 Parking lot management
Allows to manage parking lots including the barrier control for entrance
and exit, the corresponding traffic lights which show the status of the
parking area and the maximum number of cars allowed.
A balancing of those parking lots is also possible. BIS shows the status
on the operator’s screen and also by traffic light near the barrier.

 1000 cardholder license extension
This is a 1000 cardholder license/database extension from the initial 2000
records up to the maximum number of 200,000.
 32 entrance license extension
This is a 32 entrance license/database extension to the initial number of
32 entrances, where an entrance could be a simple door with one or two
readers up to a mantrap consisting of two doors and four readers.
