Setup for Spanish
For students who plan to take the test in Spanish, you can set up a
workstation language preference and assign a Spanish Read Aloud
accommodation (if needed).
From the drop-down list at the bottom of the login page,
select Espanol.
Localize test
machines for Spanish
Set up the Spanish
Read Aloud
accommodation
Note: You can also set up your language preferences
manually on Windows or Mac workstations. For more
information, see the NMSBA Technical Guide for
Spanish Language Support, which is available on the
NMSBA Help & Support page.
The Spanish Read Aloud accommodation requires a
Cepstral Spanish language pack installed on the
machine on which the test is run.
Note: For assistance, contact Measured Progress at
[email protected] or (877) 676-6722.

Note: Only the Read Aloud accommodation needs to be
documented in an IEP.

Accommodations Tutorial
This new 7-minute MP4 video uses colorful animation and simple language to
clearly demonstrate how students who are assigned accommodations can
customize and use each accommodation available in their computer-based test.
Encourage students to
view this tutorial prior to a
test session, to help
ensure the most
successful testing
experience.

Security
Test administrators must follow these security guidelines:
To ensure a high level of security:

Store answer documents in a central and secure area when not in use.

Are not assigned to a classroom in which a relative is being tested.

Report any possible breaches of security to the STC immediately.
Note: School and district staff members are prohibited from studying or
discussing online test questions in any manner, either among themselves
or with students, before, during, or after testing.
41
Measured Progress ©2015
Electronic Devices
Students who are testing should be asked ahead of time not to bring
electronic devices into the test room on the day of the test.
An electronic device is any personal, non-educational device (with the
exception of electronic medical equipment) with an on-off switch:
Disallowed electronic devices
Cell phones
Any device that can make and receive telephone calls
Smart phones
A cell phone that includes features of a PDA, such as
applications for reading and sending e-mail,
maintaining a calendar, and browsing the web
Music players
iPods, MP3 players, or other music players
Computers
iPads, tablets, laptops, eReaders, or other computers
Pagers
Long-range or wireless
Note: If parents or family members need to contact a student during
testing days, they may call the school office.
42

Preparing the Test Room
Check physical surroundings…
Door sign
Post a “Testing—Please do not disturb” sign on your class or lab
test room door.
Wall or
workstation
distractions
Remove or cover any visual distractions and interferences from
in and around the test room, or on student workstations, such as
displayed materials that would interfere or hinder with proper test
administration.
Check supplies…
Scratch paper
and pencils
Make sure these are on hand and that they are readily available.
Note: Calculators and rulers are not provided for SBA Science.
Check student workstations…
Fully charged
Make sure computers, devices or laptops are fully charged.
Provide extra adapters if needed.
Computer
monitors
Position monitors to prevent students from seeing each other’s
work.
43
Measured Progress ©2015
Monitoring the Test
If you are the test monitor…

Distribute Student Login Tickets for each student assigned to you for testing.

Post the Test Access Code for the test session at the front of the room.

Monitor students to ensure they have logged on successfully and answer any
procedural questions.

Speak with your technology coordinator and/or Measured Progress Technical
Support (1-877-676-6722) about any technology-related issues that arise.

If a student needs to leave the test room for any reason, be sure an escort is
available to accompany the student to and from the test room.
44
Measured Progress ©2015
Pausing a Test
During the test session, if a student needs to leave the test room, he or she
must click Pause to pause the test.
Once clicked, the Pause timeframe lasts for 20 minutes. If a test is paused
for more than 20 minutes, the test proctor must restart the test by entering a
proctor password at the student’s workstation.
45
Measured Progress ©2015
After Testing
Not all students will complete the test at the same time; however, the test
session will end after a set time.
When the test session ends:
Best practices


Instruct students to close and log out of the test session at their workstations.
Collect the Student Login Tickets and scratch paper.
Note: If some students complete the test before the test session ends,
instruct them to sit quietly or engage in a quiet activity at their desks until
all students have finished, or until the test session ends.
