Early Childhood Outcomes Approved Assessment Tools: New Mexico PreK Observational Assessment Tools Website: https://www.newmexicoprek.org/ The New Mexico PreK Observational Assessment Tools includes 7 domains which are designed to align to state and national standards for early childhood: • Physical Development, Health and Well Being – coordination, hygiene, safety • Literacy – listening, language, reading and writing • Numeracy and Spatial Relationships – counting, shapes, sorting and measurement • Aesthetic/Creativity – art, music and movement • Scientific/Conceptual Understanding - investigation of the physical and natural worlds • Self, Family & Community – appropriate behavior, social skills and being a part of a group • Approaches to Learning -– independence, problem-solving, thinking and perseverance Administering the New Mexico PreK Observational Tools: • Who can give the assessment? • Is special training needed? • How long does it take to complete the assessment?
