Team Captain Responsibilities
Your responsibilities
– Register your team online. Helpful step by step directions later in this document.
– Recruit friends, family, and co-workers to join your team; all team members must be
registered by May 3, 2010.
– Communicate Race information to your team. Keep them motivated!
– Encourage team member fundraising. Fundraising tips are included on our Teams
website. This year’s goal is simple - every team member raises $100. Each team
member asks 10 people to donate $10. See how easy it is to build momentum from there!
– Don’t forget about the Sleep In for a Cure option! Even if they are out of town or have to
work on Race Day, they can still be on your team raising money for the Cure. They even
get a t-shirt and bib!
What you receive from us
– Assistance with questions, problems, etc.:
• Email the Central Virginia Affiliate office staff about registration or login issues at
[email protected].
• Questions about being a Team Captain (growing your team, fundraising, Race Day
etc.), email our Team Relations Committee at [email protected].
• Questions about the High School Team Challenge, email [email protected].
– Monthly newsletters to Team Captains with Race updates, fundraising suggestions, and
sample communications for your teams

FAQs
Q: Can I register multiple people in one transaction?
A: Yes, multiple registration will be available.
Q: Can someone make a general donation to my team?
A: Yes, we now have the functionality to accept team gifts.
Q: Can I enter pledge money that I receive via cash or check?
A: Yes, you can use your Race Center to record gifts you receive as
“unconfirmed gifts” under “My Progress.” Once the affiliate receives
the payment, we will confirm your gift.
Q: If I’m registering a minor, can I make their information private?
A: Yes; you can sign in to their Race Center and click the “Make my
campaign private” link
